Racism on the radio...

Racism is so different over here. I mean, it's still very much present and the Maori's and white men are always arguing about something from years ago and calling each other names and all the bullshit that goes with it - Asian immigrants also take a bit of flack too.

Anyway, I was listening to a major New Zealand radio station on the way home from work today. The DJ's had a guy on the phone whose second name was Hood and his girlfriends second name was Church or something...one of the DJ's said jokingly: "I didn't think hoods and churches were a good mix!". The other DJ then pipes up "Nah, you're thinking of hoods and black people!"

Imagine if a DJ back in England got on the radio and said something like that...they'd get in heeeeeeeaaaaaaappppppppsssssssssss of shit. I'd heard racist comments on the radio before over here, but that one took the cake...

Maybe I'm being sensitive? I dunno, just seemed weird to hear something like that on mainstream radio ya'knowww.

Anyway, it's just funny. A bit weird too. Shit's so slack over here! Just the Kiwi way of life I guess...everybody's pretty chill and they just get on with things. They don't take stuff too seriously and I think it's a good thing...maybe that particular comment was a little over the boundary, but in general the Kiwi manifesto is pretty sweet.

On a completely unrelated topic, Krew are bringing out a range of shoes. Go peep them here http://kr3wdenim.com/blog/

They pretty much look like the illegitimate lovechild of an Emerica-Supra romance. Pretty fly though.
